A Legacy on the River
Wally Hall Jr. spent countless hours fishing the Chilliwack/Vedder River, creating lifelong memories with family and friends. His love for the outdoors lives on through the Wally Hall Jr. Memorial Steelhead Fishing Derby, an annual event celebrating community, conservation, and the joy of fishing.
From December to March, anglers join the derby hosted by Fred’s Custom Tackle, Fishing with Rod, and the Chilliwack Fish and Game Protective Society. Every registration supports the Fraser Valley Watersheds Coalition, funding salmon habitat restoration, invasive species removal, and stewardship programs along the river.
More than a competition, the derby is a tradition that connects people to nature and helps keep the river Wally loved thriving. Even if you don’t fish, you can honor his legacy by donating to the Wally Hall Jr. Memorial Fund to protect salmon and restore healthy waterways for future generations.
